Attorney Kathryn M. Russell
 
Kathryn is a 1999 graduate of Thomas M. Cooley Law School. She was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in May 1999 and to the United States District Court of the Western District of Michigan in May 1999 and United States District Court of the Eastern District of Michigan in  December 2002.  Kathryn has been in private practice since she was licensed to practice law in May 1999, handling all areas of law including divorce, custody, parenting time and child support, as well as guardianships, child protective proceedings, juvenile delinquency and adult criminal matters, both misdemeanors and felonies, and Bankruptcy.
 
Prior to law school Kathryn was a Deputy Sheriff with the Adams County Sheriff's Department from 1989 to 1996, located just outside Denver, Colorado.  She has found that the experience has gave her valuable perspective to the criminal law practice.  Additionally, Kathryn gained vauable trial experience in law school as a student extern in the Barry County Prosecutor's Office.   She also worked a short time after becoming as attorney as a Barry County Prosector, handling misdemeanor cases.
 
Kathryn has handled numerous many criminal jury and civil trials since 1999, including several high profile murder cases in Kalamazoo County. 
 
  
 
Attorney Kristen E. Hoel 
 
  
Kristen is a 1997 cum laude graduate of Thomas M. Cooley Law School. She was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in May 1998 and to the United States District Court of the Western District of Michigan in January 1999.

Since graduation, Kristen has continued her training and education.  Some of the trainings include:  the Hillman Advocacy Program, Handling the Child Welfare Case – Applying the Law to Practice, General Civil Mediation Training, Domestic Relations Mediator Training and Domestic Violence Screening Protocol.

During Kristen’s law school education, she had the opportunity to work with a non-profit agency to provide legal services to low income Michigan residents.  Kristen continued to work for that agency for 9 years, serving the legal needs of low income clients primarily in the area of family law.

In 2006 after 9 years, Kristen left that agency to go into private practice.  The focus of her practice has included all areas of family law, including divorce, custody, parenting time and child support, as well as guardianships, child protective proceedings, juvenile delinquency and adult criminal matters, both misdemeanors and felonies.
